Prerequisites
Charge your One Plus 5 at least up to 60%. Backup your phone data and settings as everything gets wiped out in this process. Enable the USB debugging mode on your phone. Also, enable OEM unlocking and Advance reboot mode from Developer options. Install OnePlus USB drivers on your computer. (Optional) Disable all the security related tools as well as antivirus on your computer.

Steps to Unlock Bootloader of One Plus 5
Download and install ADB and fastboot files on your computer. Then using USB data cable connect your One Plus 5 to computer. Make sure that One Plus USB drivers are installed on your computer. Go to the location C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (where you’ve installed the adb and fastboot). Then by holding shift button of your keyboard, right click on empty space. From the list, choose Open command window here option. This will launch the command window.
In the command window, type the following commands and hit enter key:
adb devices
As soon as you hit enter key, you’ll see a message saying ‘List of devices attached’ along with random numbers. This will confirm that your One Plus 5 has successfully connected to your computer.
If such thing doesn’t happen then re-install the USB drivers. If the problem still persists then change the USB cable or USB port. Now type the next command and press enter key:
adb reboot bootloader
This will reboot your One Plus 5 into fastboot mode as shown below:
Next type the fastboot command and press enter key:
fastboot devices
This command will again confirm the successful connection with some random numbers.
Lets begin the bootloader unlocking process. For that, type the following command and hit enter key:
fastboot oem unlock
As soon as you press enter key, the following screen will appear on your phone:
Use Volume Up and Down keys for navigation and Power key for selection. So using Volume keys navigate to the Yes option and press Power key for selecting it.
This will begin the actual bootloader unlocking process.
This step will clear out entire data on your phone. Hence make sure you have backed up everything before implementing this step. As the process completes, your One Plus 5 will automatically restart itself.
