Pre-Requisites:

Charge your phone to at least 50% to avoid any interruption.

Enable USB Debugging mode from your phone settings.

Also, enable OEM unlocking and Advance reboot mode from Developer options.

To recognize your phone when connected to a PC, install the latest OnePlus mobile USB drivers.

Before flashing TWRP recovery, you must unlock the bootloader of Android phone.

Backup contacts, apps, accounts, messages, call logs, and notes etc. for safety.

Steps to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 5:

Step 1: Download the ADB setup. Step 2: Install the downloaded ADB setup file on your PC. Step 3: Download TWRP.img. Step 4: Transfer this TWRP.img file to C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (where you’ve installed the ADB and fastboot). So you’ll see the following files in the ADB folder:

Step 5: Using a USB cable, connect your phone to the PC. Step 6: Go to the location C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder, hold the Shift button, and right mouse click on a space. You’ll see a list of options from which select the Open command window here option. This will open a command prompt window on your PC.

Step 7: Type the below command in the cmd window and press the enter key: adb devices As soon as you press enter, a message saying ‘List of devices attached’ will show. This will confirm a successful connection between your OnePlus 5 and PC.

Note: If such a thing doesn’t happen, then re-install OnePlus USB drivers from the Pre-requisites section. Step 8: Now enter the following command and press enter: adb reboot bootloader

This will reboot the OnePlus 5 into fastboot mode as shown below.

Step 9: To confirm whether fastboot is functional or not, type the below command: fastboot devices

Some random numbers will confirm that fastboot is functional. Step 10: Let’s start the OnePlus 5 TWRP recovery installation process now. For doing so, type the following command and press the enter key: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

As soon as you press the enter key, the TWRP recovery will be installed on your OnePlus 5 smartphone.

Steps to Boot OnePlus 5 into TWRP recovery mode:

Step 1: Power off the OnePlus 5 smartphone. Step 2: Press and hold Volume down + Power button simultaneously until TWRP recovery mode appears. Leave both the keys now. Finally!
